Brookline - Quezalguaque Sister City Cards for all Occasions
The Sister City Project produces gift cards you can use for all occasions. The cards will picture one of our projects and a message to reflect the occasion you are celebrating or commemorating. They have been used for holiday cards, birthday cards, Bat Mitzvah cards and even retirement cards. Some have been used to commemorate the passing of friend or relative. The price vary depending on the project you chose.
We currently have cards for the following projects:
Mobile Library Project - this project brings books and a librarian to remote communities in the municipality of Quezalguaque. Your donation will finance the cost of the vehicle to make this trip to four rural areas monthly.
Art Classes - on a recent visit to Quezalguaque the library staff proposed using the community room in the library for art classes. An art teachers receives a stipend and canvases, paints and brushes are provided.
Rural Health Project - in the summer of 2006 four BU Public Health students did a health survey in the rural communities surrounding Quezalguaque. One of the major finding was the difficulty in getting health care workers to this remote health center. Sister City began paying for the taxi that takes health care workers back and forth to the rural center five days a week.
